Motivational Interviewing Workshops

Motivational interviewing (Miller & Rollnick, 2023) is an evidence-based counselling approach that helps people find the internal motivation they need to change and grow. It is a collaborative, person-centered approach that aims to strengthen the person's own motivation and commitment to change. With the help of motivational interviewing, people can resolve personal ambivalence, consolidate motivation and commitment to change and achieve their goals.

Since 2003, I been a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers. I have  been provided  a wide range in-person and virtual of MI workshops around the world. 

Foundational Skills

This workshop is ideal for people who are new to MI or looking for a re-fresher to get familiar with what's new.

Building MI Skills I

An interactive skills building workshop through observation, practice and feedback. This workshop is ideal for people who have a previous training in MI and looking to increase confidence and skills

Building MI Skills II

The workshop was created for people who are wanting to answer the question of "Am I doing MI?".  This practice based  workshop incorporates the Motivational Interviewing Treatment Integrity Skill Code to deepen and consolidate MI skills. Participants learn the basics of MI skill coding, create a work sample to code and build a personal leaning plan.

MI & Group Facilitation 

Therapeutic groups can be as effective as individual services but are challenging to facilitate. Groups risk becoming dull with little participation or overheated with destructive conflict. Effective group leaders must manage conversational dynamics, encourage open sharing, and maintain therapeutic bonds. This workshop based on Chris Wagner and Karen Ingersoll's model of incorporating Motivational Interviewing Group skills, helps participants lead groups that inspire positive change.
